Bingo sponsored wedding called off by vicar

A plan to sponsor a wedding by a UK bingo company has had to be called off after the vicar disapproved of his congregation being encouraged to gamble.

Online Bingo Club had agreed a substantial sum, thought to be around £5,000 to be involved with the wedding of Matt Brown, 37 and his wife to be, 28-year-old Suzanne Latta after they had won a competition.

In return they would get their logo on the couple’s clothes, shoes and wedding invitations.

The winners were selected from more than 100 entries.

But the plan was effectively sidelined by the vicar of the Scottish church when he refused permission for photos to be taken of the ceremony – he also raised reservations about a gambling related theme.

Online Bingo Club describe the plan as “harmless fun” but the sposnorship has fallen through after the Reverend’s decision.
