EPT to combine Poker and Golf event

Published on August 2, 2010 by   ·   No Comments

PokerStars are trying something different ahead of the EPT Event in Vilamoura, Spain, with a combined poker and golf event, costing €1100 to enter, though qualifying packages are available.

The event will first see the competitors take to the golf course, where they will be split into teams of four, playing in a Texas Scramble format – this means that everyone will hit a drive, and the best position will play on – so there will be no horrendous handicapping if one team happens to draw a complete golfing duffer.

The chip stacks for the following day’s poker will then depend on the team and individual performance on the golf course, with bonuses for the longest drive, best individual team performance and so on.

The one day NL Hold em event will determine who hosts the prize pool. It sounds like a novel approach and it could even be fun ahead of the serious business of grinding out a cash in an EPT.

It takes place on September 1st-2nd.
