It’s been reported that the National Football League has dropped it’s long held opposition to the bill going through the US Congress to regulate internet gaming.
There’s been little love lost between the NFL and the poker community since the NFL managed to get fantasy league competitions removed from the UIGEA, so they could continue to be run without restrictions, unlike online gambling.
Now an amendent has been put into the Barney Frank bill which will stop companies licensed for poker etc, under the bill, being able to offer sportsbetting, other than Tote betting on horse racing.
The Frank bill has made it through the House of Representatives Finance Committee as the gambling community crosses its fingers and hopes for it to plough through the long legislative process.
