Nick Abou Risk claimed his biggest tournament title to date as he landed the PokerStars.Com UKIPT Edinburgh title, the latest leg on the opening season.
Abou Risk pocketed £50,000 for his victory in Scotland, defeating a strong looking field of 401 players that included EPT winner Jake Cody, Michael Greco and Liv Boeree among others.
Canadian AbouRisk has had fun in the UK, winning a £150 event at the Dusk Till Dawn club in Nottingham in June before winning this event.
Abou Risk beat the conservative Lithuanian player Mantas Puidokas heads up when his Jack-6 cracked Puidoaks King-9 when all the money went in pre-flop. He earned £27,700.
Luke Marsh, a high stakes heads up sit and go specialist online, took 3rd place and £17,700. Marsh took down the £1,000 buy in DTD Anniversary Cup in December 2008 and had a deep run in the EPT in Deauville. His aggressive play had the final table on the back foot for long periods. Expect to see him clock up more good results.
The UKIPT Manchester winner Joeri Zandvliet made his second series final table, finishing in 4th this time.
Of other notables, Jake Cody cashed in 11th, and there was a non-life changing £900 prize for Neil Channing, who was 47th.
The next leg of the UKIPT is in Dublin, with satellites currently running on Pokerstars for the €500+60 event which runs from September 9th-12th.
