Ryder Cup – Paddy Power pays out on Europe

Published on September 29, 2010 by   ·   No Comments

The Ryder Cup betting is virtually over as far as Paddy Power is concerned.

The Irish bookmaker has suffered some form of low grade brain seizure by deciding to already pay out on a European victory at Celtic Manor. Unfortunately – if you are rushing to put your bet on with the new, it only applies to bets that were placed on Sunday or earlier.

The company summed it up rather directly through their betting blog and we quote:

“In the spirit of all things misjudged, we’ve decided to plump for a bad decision all of our own. It’s no throwing away a Major with a stupid technical infringement or violating Gok Wan’s first rule of fashion, but it is very likely to come back and take a sizeable bite out of our collective ass.”

It’s nice not to see these things completed shrouded in corporate PR speak we guess.

For the record, Paddy Power has Europe at 7/10 to regain the Ryder Cup, the USA at at 6/4 and a tied match at 11/1
