Former England striker Teddy Sheringham is showing his competitive instincts remain sharp by making the last 8 of the PokerStars.com European Poker Tour event in Vilamoura in Spain.
Sheringham, a regular on the live poker scene, has twice made the money in EPT events and also scored a respectale 14th in the World Series of Poker Europe main event, but this is his best run in a live open tournament – Sheringham has played on a number of TV specials but is clearly developing his tournament game effectively.
Today’s final table looks strong, including Britain’s Sam Trickett, who had a good world series, UK regular Toby Lewis and the Dutch veteran Rob Hollink, who is the short stack, along with Martin Jacobsen, an EPT final tabler in Budapest.
There’s more than €1mn to be divided up on the final table, with the winner pocketing €467,835. English pair Lewis and Trickett are the two chip leaders, and neither is likely to back down from any confrontation. Yesterday’s event saw a rapid whittling down to the final 8, so prepare for an explosive final table.
Gamblingnewsbase.com will bring you news of the winner once the final cards hit the felt.
