PokerStars has put together mega-satellites to try and encourage low and medium size buy in players to take a shot at the biggest events in the prestigious WCOOP (World Championship of Online Poker Series). The new extreme satellites will take place at 2pm. 5pm and 8pm American Eastern Time from August 21-219, with a minimum of 25 seats for each event.
That’s 7pm, 10pm and 1am UK time.
The series begins on September 5th with $200+15 6 max NL and full-ring events, along with a $10,300 high roller entry competition. There are three weeks of events, concluding in the $5,200 main event which has an eye-popping $10mn guaranteed prize pool. There are no less than 62 events in total – praise the lord for multi-tabling options.
Like the WSOP, there are leaderboards for overall standing and bracelets on the line, with the leaderboard winner getting no less than a package to the Monte Carlo EPT event, a 2011 SCOOP Main Event ticket and a package for the PokerStars Carribean Adventure, not forgetting a special chip set! The added value in that alone is mind boggling.
The series should be quite a challenge and a grind for even the most persistent tournament expert, but the range of satellites on offer do offer the chance of a dream score for a recreational player with a modicum of skill and the requisite luck!
